First Period Guide for Girls

Dear girls, this is a natural process every girl will experience 💕

What is menstruation?

Dear girls, menstruation is a gentle cycle in your body. Every month, your body prepares a soft bed in the uterus for a possible baby.

If there is no baby this month, your body will remove this "bed" and prepare a new one. The blood that comes out during this process is menstruation.

💡 Remember: Menstruation is a sign of health, showing your body is working normally!

What is the menstrual cycle?

Just like the moon has phases, a woman’s body has its own cycle, usually about 28 days (21-35 days is normal).

Day 1-7

Menstrual phase

Day 8-13

Follicular phase

Day 14

Ovulation

Day 15-28

Luteal phase

🌸 First period (Menarche)

Most girls have their first period between ages 10-16. It’s a sign of growing up, as natural and beautiful as a flower blooming.

Signs before menarche:

  • Rapid height growth
  • Breast development
  • White discharge appears
  • Emotional changes

💝 Self-care during menstruation

🧴 Hygiene

  • Choose suitable pads, tampons, or other products you like
  • Change every 2-4 hours
  • Maintain good hygiene habits
  • Wash with warm water

🍎 Diet

  • Drink more warm water
  • Supplement iron (red dates, spinach)
  • Eat nutritious food
  • Brown sugar water is helpful

🤗 How to relieve discomfort

What about abdominal pain?

Mild pain is normal. Use a hot water bag, drink warm water, distract yourself, and avoid intense exercise. If pain is severe, see a doctor.

Mood swings

Mood changes are normal before and during your period. Talk to friends, listen to music, encourage yourself, and do things that make you happy.
